The Trevor Stubley Gallery is situated in a former handloom
weaver's house (c1850) on the A635 Greenfield Road in the
Green Belt two mils from the centre of Holmfirth. The A635
is a main Trans Pennine road linking Barnsley with Manchester.
The Gallery is on the 950' contour line near the Ford Inn.
There are three separate exhibition areas, the studio and
two galleries totalling 100-120 linear feet of hanging space.
The primary purpose is to act as an outlet for the paintings
of the resident artist, Trevor Stubley RP, RBA, RSW, RWS.
Exhibitions of his most recent paintings are normally held
twice a year in October and July. The gallery is closed during
August.
Stubley is a highly prolific artist who since 1960 has illustrated
over 400 children's books and carried out around 500 commissioned
portraits including one of HM the Queen in 1986 for the Institution
of Electrical Engineers. At present he produces on average
100 works a year using a wide variety of subject matter and
media.
Parking is available immediately outside the gallery. There
is disabled access throughout.
No opening hours are published so it is essential for intending
visitors to phone in advance to avoid disappointment.
